Online shopping, especially at this time of year, has become such a big deal that we even have a kick-off day similar to Black Friday. It’s called “Cyber Monday,” and it occurred yesterday. Did you miss it? You didn’t miss much. Forgive us for being cynical, but both days are marketing ploys from the retail industry to get you to spend—especially THIS year! But the truth is that a growing number of people will do at least some of their holiday shopping online this year. If that’s you, here are two extremely important tips to keep in mind: First, you can save a lot of money online. If you haven’t already, be sure to check out these 7 sites that could save you hundreds of bucks! Second, be very careful in Cyberland! The growth in online shopping, combined with the current recession, is fertile ground for scammers. All of us are eager to save every dollar that we are able, and the cyber crooks know it. At the moment, computer security firms are bracing for a big increase in cyber scams, so be on the lookout for spam e-mails that look like legitimate ways to save you money but, in fact, are simply tricks to obtain your valuable personal information. We’ve been victims of identity theft ourselves, and trust us, it’s a royal pain (we were very fortunate not to lose any money). Arm yourself now with these simple steps so it doesn’t happen to you. This is one case where an ounce of prevention really is worth a pound of cure! We know that after Thanksgiving everyone gets busy preparing for the holidays. You’re making your lists, checking them twice, and hoping that it won’t break the bank. Seriously though, in all of the hustle and bustle, we don’t want you to overlook some important money strategies that could save you some big bucks. Specifically, we’re talking about taxes. We just turned the calendar over to December, and in the remaining 29 days of 2008, you can make some very smart tax moves to keep extra money in your pocket. Taxes aren’t nearly as much fun as hanging festive decorations, but these strategies may pay off for you all year long. We know that you’re busy, so we want to make it as easy as possible for you. That’s why we recorded this brand new video with our top year-end tax moves that will save you big bucks. Click here to watch the video now.
The first time the leaders of the Big Three American automakers went to Capitol Hill to beg for money, they were practically laughed out of town. Now, Larry, Moe and Curly are b-a-a-a-ck! They may not be poking each other in the eye or other slapstick high jinx, but they might as well be. In many ways, their request for billions of dollars in financial bailout bucks is just as laughable (although not nearly as funny). Let me (Daria here) tell you what the real problem is, and what I see as the only solution to this whole mess. Here’s my take on the situation everyone’s talking about. Sincerely,
