Maybe it's because I just finished reading Michael Paul Evan's "Michael Vey," -- quite possibly the American answer to the Harry Potter series about group of teen-agers with incredible electric powers -- that I'm today wishing that I had the supernatural power to reconfigure the President's teleprompter for his speech to a joint session of Congress tomorrow night.

So, for the next few moments, allow me to assume some mystical powers in an attempt to help bail out our President who has painted himself into a huge corner in the past two and one-half years… attempting, time after time, to implement job creation/economic initiatives that, simply, have gained little, or no, traction.

SO… I sneak into the teleprompter room… sit down at the computer console (I know how to do this from my years in television), type into the prompter some of my suggestions for solving our country's problem…hit "send" and "voila" – a new speech!

I quietly sneak away… and patiently wait for tomorrow night.   

That same night I dream that the President steps up to the podium, and, amid thunderous applause, begins:

PROMPTER ROLLS…

"Good evening, my fellow Americans.

I have come here tonight to take control of fixing MY economy…not that of my predecessor.

In these harrowing and challenging economic times, our country has been faced with NO jobs growth for the month of August and unemployment at 9% or higher has lingered for 26 of the past 28 months.

It is time for me, and Congress, to put aside the partisan rhetoric and partisan proposals and attack, once and for all and with vigor, our #1 priority…meaningful and lasting job creation.

Rather than continuing the rearrange the deck chairs on the Titanic by calling for increased stimulus spending through an "Infra-structure Bank" and more "green" jobs, which have nothing to spur economic growth, I am proposing this evening several necessary steps my administration must do NOW to get our country back on track…a track of economic growth and prosperity. 

• First...Let's attack our #1 priority...job creation.
  
  As you know, small businesses -- including start-ups --are the lifeblood of new job creation.
  
  For many reasons, some of which I'll discuss tonight, for the past couple of years, small businesses have found it nearly impossible to borrow money to expand their businesses and, in the process, create new jobs.
  
  In an effort to marshal our country's assets where they are MOST needed...in one week I will present to Congress an innovative plan to establish and fund a "Small Business Direct" bank.
  
   The sole purpose of this unique institution will be to lend money to small businesses at below-market interest rates with streamlining of the loan paperwork to only a 30 day process.
  
  The SMALL BUSINESS DIRECT bank will be, at the least, a start in the right direction.
  
  I ask Congress tonight, on a bi-partisan basis, to support this initiative when presented next week.
  
• The U.S. Treasury, under my strict orders, must start supporting the U.S. dollar because only a strong dollar will keep inflation down, energy prices affordable and the prices of food, goods and services here in America in a reasonable acceptable range.
  
  That also means, Tim, that you must stop Ben Bernanke from manufacturing money out of the air!
  
  Those days are OVER…starting tonight!
  
  My national healthcare will NOT become the law of the land in 2014 because I now realize that the unknown future impact of mandatory insurance has acted as a major impediment to job creation.
  
• The Environmental Protection Agency is officially on notice, effective immediately, to "cease and desist" from recommending/implementing arbitrary and detrimental, not mention, unattainable, standards.  All the EPA has managed to do is scare the living daylights out of both large and small businesses as well as agriculture, limiting the creation, again, of new jobs.
  
  I have asked for an immediate analysis on the entire EPA operation…its budget, personnel, stated goals, current programs, etc.
  
• Effective immediately… I am demanding the cancellation of all Dodd-Frank legislation which is VERY costly because, among other limitations, it is severely discouraging the banks' lending to small businesses.  
  
  That has to stop TODAY!
  
  Frankly, I don't know what the heck I was thinking when I signed banking legislation authored by the two ringleaders of 2008 financial meltdown.
  
• Today, I have asked for the immediate resignation of Cass Sunstein, my Information Czar who has created a regulatory nightmare for all businesses.
  
  I'm sorry, Cass…but writing an OpEd piece for the Wall Street Journal claiming to be  repairing the damage that you have caused was just a lot of B.S.
  
  You haven’t fooled anyone, including me.
  
• And, lastly, I am finally admitting that the creation of "green" jobs is no longer an Administration priority as we plan for America's future.
  
  I've wasted enough of your money funding green companies that are either unable to create new jobs, create energy at efficient levels or, sorrowfully, already out of business… for two reasons.
  
  First…solar and wind power costs more than they save and, secondly, China can make all the necessary solar components more cheaply.
  
  Sorry, GE. You're going to have to find another "promising" industry on which you will continue to pay little or no corporate taxes!

These are some of my new initiatives that I will immediately begin implementing.

Additionally… tomorrow I will announce the new members of my economic team… not with "experts" from university classrooms or crony-capitalistic boardrooms… but with working Americans who know how to get their hands dirty and help bring America back from its current malaise.

From tonight forward, I hereby commit myself and my Administration to TRUE job creation.

Yes… it"s late in the game… opportunities have been squandered… further budget cuts must be made… money has been wasted… and some of our plans turned out NOT to be "shovel-ready."

Hard times demand hard choices.

Help us… my Administration and Congress, make the right, hard choices.

Together, we can again make America the economic standard against which all others will be judged.
