Are You Kidding Me?
Help me out here.
I can't believe what I just read!
How can 25 of some of America's best-known corporations, among them, eBay, GE, Boeing and Verizon... averaging $1.9 BILLION in profits in 2010... pay so LITTLE in taxes??
How little?
Each of these corporations paid their chief executives MORE than they paid in Federal taxes!
Hard to believe... but true.
While you're slugging it out every day in the workplace, dreading how much of your hard-earned money goes to pay your taxes, some of the richest, most successful corporations in America are paying next to nothing.
We're being played for fools by the IRS and Congress.
We don't have the power (aka $$$) wielded by many large companies to get their DC contacts and power brokers to create and protect $400,000,000 of tax loopholes, shelters and substantial tax reduction strategies available to large corporations.
The chief executives at these 25 companies surveyed by The Institute for Policy Studies, pocketed an average of $16,000,000 last year... LESS than the average amount paid by their companies in Federal taxes, according to a study just released.
One example: Boeing, the behemoth airplane manufacturer, paid their chief executive $13,800,000 last year but paid only $13,000,000 in Federal taxes.
What the heck is going on here?
I have nothing against paying a competent chief executive what he or she is worth.
That's not my point.
But whatever happened to paying your FAIR SHARE?
Another example of the little guy (us) getting screwed by the DC and corporate powers that be.
