Investment Strategy to Fight Inflation
Categories: Invest Wisely Retirement Center
Don't any of those wacky talking head "experts" on TV ever go shopping?
Check out the prices!
I-N-F-L-A-T-I-O-N. It's already here!
If you're a conservative investor, here's an investment strategy to consider during inflationary periods such as the one in which we find ourselves these days...
Certificate of Deposit "laddering."
To use this strategy, simply buying several maturities of CDs, six months apart.
If interest rates go up, you can roll the shorter ones to higher rates. BUT, if interest rates go down, you have the protection of the longer-term securities at the other end of the "ladder."
For the best CD rates, check out www.money-rates.com that monitors CD rates from over 200 banks across the U.S.
Also a quick FYI--bank and credit union CDs are insured up to $250,000 by the FDIC and NCUA respectively.
Will "laddering" make you rich? NO.
Will it provide a level of comfort, safety and peace of mind during an inflationary period?
We think so.
