Believe it or not, sometimes our children CAN teach us something!

Our daughter Meredith called from work yesterday, something she never does.  

Naturally when I heard her voice, I assumed something terrible had happened!  (You mothers can relate to that.)

However, when I heard the excitement in her voice, I relaxed and just listened.

She and our son-in-law, Keith, are going on vacation next week to Colorado and, being a very “thrifty” (some would say “cheap”) couple, they scoured airline and hotel deals for a couple of months before pulling the trigger and booking their trip.

They found a wonderful deal at an upscale hotel in Vail, Colorado which was advertising, “Stay two nights and get the third night FREE.”  

But, after inquiring further about the special, they were told that the particular 6 nights that they wanted to book were not part of the deal!

Since the room rates were still very good for the quality of the hotel, they booked it anyway.

My son-in-law, never one to take “no” for an answer, went back on the hotel website yesterday, exactly one month later, and discovered the week they have booked is suddenly part of the "3 nights for 2" package!

Our daughter immediately called back and asked for the special package.  

The hotel is honoring her request.  

So, lo and behold, they will be staying for 6 nights at a Ritz hotel, paying for only four nights and saving $650 to boot!

Lesson from our daughter…when making travel arrangements ALWAYS go back and check for a better deal.
