Warning…don’t fall for the newest spam scam!

 We have a weakness for celebrity gossip and spammers know it.

That’s why the most recent spam campaign flooding email boxes around the country has the subject line “(Insert celebrity name) is dead”.

If I believed my in box, everyone from Tiger Woods to Tom Cruise to Mick Jagger died over the weekend.

Every one of these spam emails urged me to open the attachment for all the details.

Don’t do it!!  As we have said before, ignore all unsolicited emails.  Simply delete these emails and if you must know if there is any truth to them search a reputable news source for the real (or often surreal when it comes to celebrities) story.

Any email you receive with the title “Pfizer 80% off” is another spam mail you should delete immediately.  Most links from these emails lead to sites set up only to accept payments or phish for personal info. None are connected to Pfizer in any way.

It should come as no surprise that 60% of all spam these days is for pharmaceuticals!  Be sure to only shop through legitimate sites and if you are not sure the site is real don’t use it.

Don't "click" with strangers.  Remember spam is designed to do one of two things:  Get you to click on a link so your computer picks up a virus or con you out of personal information in an attempt to steal your identity.  Here are more simple tips to protect yourself from scams.
