Summer Book Recommendations
We read dozens of business publications every month to help give the soundest information possible guidance to our dolans.com family.
But this summer we have vowed to make time to read some wonderful books--both fiction and non-fiction—that we’ve had our eye on but haven’t gotten to.
After carrying it around for a few weeks, I (this is Ken) just finished “Extreme Measures” ...a foreign intrigue thriller featuring maverick Mitch Rapp. The book is by one of my favorite authors, Vince Flynn.
I am eagerly awaiting his next novel, “American Assassin,” due out in October.
Because we both love Italy, I will soon start a book that Daria has been urging me to read, “The Monster of Florence” by Douglas Preston and Mario Spezi - the true story of an, as-yet, unsolved series of murders in Florence, Italy.
Having spent 20 years in radio with Daria…I’m also looking forward to getting a new book called, “Is This Thing On?” written by Robin Marshall. It’s a compilation of stories from some very famous broadcasters telling of their first jobs, their nightmare incidents on the air and what they're doing today. You can check it out http://robinmarshall.com/book.html.
I wouldn’t be surprised to read about one or two on-air Dolan incidents, such as the time that Daria threw her headsets at me and stormed out of the studio!
Daria has her Kindle charged up for a busy summer of reading!
She just finished, and really enjoyed, “A Patriot’s History of The United State” by Larry Schweikart and Michael Allen.
Next up is “The Imperfectionists” by Tom Rachman. It’s set against the chaotic backdrop of a fictional English-language newspaper based in Rome.
She is also looking forward to downloading a book recommended by her mother called ROSES by Leila Meacham. It’s a multigenerational family saga set in East Texas circa 1914–1985. It charts the transformation of Mary Toliver from a wide-eyed 16-year-old heiress into a calculating cotton plantation queen as hardheaded as Scarlett O'Hara.
And last on Daria’s “must read” list is “The Doomsday Key” by James Rollins. This is his sixth Sigma Force thriller (after “The Last Oracle”) and offers plenty of intriguing science and history lessons along with a heavy dose of intrigue!

Under the Dome by Stephen King! What a wild ride! Not the spooky typical story, a blend of mystery, science fiction, and psychology!!!
Some companies have even begun to advertise them as loans to help you repair your credit, but this is very misleading.
