"Back-to-School" conjures up thoughts of shopping for just the "right" clothes, pens, pencils, backpacks – and don't forget – the latest sneakers.
Remember when sneakers cost $12.95?!
But these days, it's not just the youngsters headed back-to-school. The number of adults returning to the classroom is skyrocketing.
This horrific job market is one big reason. Folks are getting a degree or certification that will help them get a job or a better job. Many people are also considering changing careers.
We also know several retirees who are finally get that degree that they always wanted. For others, the classroom means personal development and achievement.
ALL good reasons.
If you're considering heading back to school, here are a few questions to ask before you sign on as a "new" student:
Do you feel intimidated about returning to school?
DON'T! Many adults may be intimidated about returning to college because they think college is only for young kids or they may feel that it has been too many years since they sat in a class.
Here's the common denominator for serious students, regardless of age... college is for anyone who wants to learn!
Many professors actually prefer to teach adult students because adults often bring wonderful real world experiences that they are willing to share with fellow students and are often more motivated than their younger counterparts!
