Daria and I like enjoying a bottle of wine together.

No, we are not wine experts. But, we love experimenting and over the years, we've learned a little about wine and a LOT about how to find bargains for the wines that we love.

We promise that you will be sure of one thing by the time you finish reading this...you don't have to break the bank to enjoy a good bottle.

That's good news in today's tight times.

Even with people tightening their family budgets, wine sales have increased! BUT the average price per purchase is going down. That's partially because wine prices have come down, and partially because consumers are choosing less expensive bottles of wine.

There are thousands of different wines from which to choose and you never know what you will and won't like. That's part of the fun! But no one has money to throw down the drain on a bad bottle of wine, so finding good, affordable wines to try is key.

Let's start with a few of our wine rules to live by:

1. You don't have to spend more than $20 (sometimes a LOT less) for bottle of wine
that you really enjoy...and don't let anyone tell you differently!

2. Paying more than $40 per bottle doesn't mean that you'll enjoy it twice as much or that it is twice as good as a $20 bottle. We have had wonderful $8 bottles of wine and $50 bottles that we wouldn't use as vinegar!

3. Don't get crazed about matching the exact right wine with a particular food...we
believe that the most important consideration is what pleases you, not what the "rule book" says.

Now, let's dive into some recommendations! All of our recommended wines are from U.S. vineyards unless otherwise noted, and we found all of them for $20 a bottle or less.
