An Expire Date is Just a Number
David, Nevada
I've been stretching our use of items past the expiration date on some food and medicine to extend their use and value.
The Dolans say: There are plenty of ways to save on groceries without having to put your health at risk!
Some suggestions:
- Check ethnic markets for staples such as rice, spices and produce.
- Bypass brand names and go for the generic on over-the-counter medications, canned goods and much more. They can cost up to 30 percent less!
- Check your local drugstore or convenience store for prices on basics. Often your Walgreens will charge less for a gallon of milk than your big grocery store.
