I know that this COBRA provision will be helpful to so many, HOWEVER, it does not help those of us who were layed off before the required dates, and who have been bearing the full financial weight of paying for COBRA. I am a breast cancer survivor & I am BRCA2 positive, who was layed off in March 2008, just one month before my planned second & life saving mastectomy. My COBRA coverage ends on 9/30/2009. I have still not found a reasonable (or even close to reasonable) job yet, and because I have a pre-existing condition my health insuaarnce options seem to be non-existant.
