The most frustrating debt collectors are those trying to collect for debts that you don’t really owe! Sometimes you are held accountable for charges you never made or that have already been paid off.
The first step is to request a letter from the collector confirming the charges in question. That may solve the problem if the agency recognizes its mistake. If not, it’s time to call the organization directly that’s requesting your money!
