Step #1:
Assess EVERYTHING You Owe
First things first. Let’s get you out of debt and then we’ll discuss how you can remain debt-free.
To get out of debt, you have to start with an honest list of every single debt you owe. When you go to your mailbox, write down every single credit card or loan-type bill you receive, along with the balance and the current amount due. Do that for an entire month.
If you’re married or living with a partner, ask him or her to do the same and compare notes. Whatever you do, make sure you each know what the other's debts are, as well as the joint debts.
To help you come up with a sum total of ALL you owe, fill out our simple worksheet: How Much Debt Do I Owe?
