As you may have heard, the state of Alabama has announced a controversial new plan to start charging overweight state employees more for health insurance. Here's the deal: Alabama is giving its state employees, all 37,527 of them, one year to get fit. After that, anyone with a BMI over 35 will have to start paying $25 a month for health insurance that they currently get for free. I (Ken here) thought that sounded fair, but it turns out that Daria and I disagree BIG TIME on this one! You can see the blow by blow here. But for those of you curious about your own BMI, here's a chart from WebMD that can help you figure out if you would make the cut!
