The high cost of gasoline and the prices hotels are charging for rooms this summer are putting an end to vacation plans for many Americans. But a little comparison shopping might put those plans back on track.
The interest is loaded with ways to save money on a vacation if you take the time to look.
If the kids had their hearts set on a particular theme park this summer, buying your tickets in advance at the park's website may get you a discount. You might even find coupons to download that can be redeemed at the gate.
If you're a member of AAA or AARP, you may also qualify for more discounts. And while I'm on discounts, ask for one. There are discounts for students, seniors, veterans and active military at many venues.
So before you pitch a tent in the backyard and call it a day, do a little web surfing and ask for a discount. Whether you travel an hour or 10 hours from home, there's a vacation for you.
