There are more than 44 million Americans who act as caregivers to someone on a daily or weekly basis. Caregivers come in all ages, from the boomers helping out aging parents to the seniors 60 and over who care for children.

But where can a caregiver go for some relief when they get tired and burned out? States earmark tax dollars for caregiver families. Check with your state's Department of Aging to learn what's available.

For quicker access to that info, call the Elder Care Locator at 800-677-1116 or visit www.eldercare.gov.

The National Family Caregivers Support Program offers counseling and respite care for caregivers, as well as information about home meals, transportation and even adult daycare.

Caregivers should seek out all the help available.
