If you're a regular visitor to our web site or listener to our radio program, you know that we have strongly suggested you join the millions of other Americans who have put their names on the government's "do not call list." It's really easy and it's still not too late to do so.
Just call 888-382-1222 or go to www.donotcall.gov it only takes a minute.
It won't stop all unsolicited calls because the law exempts political organizations, nonprofits, survey takers and companies with which you have a relationship.
But this helpful government service is not free of scamsters. The FTC has received numerous complaints about shady individuals offering to help consumers register, for a fee, or asking to confirm a registration in order to gain access to personal information.
Be aware that the government doesn't allow private companies or third parties to register anyone on the "do not call" list.
Check out www.ftc.gov to learn more.
